Fonto 8.15 is a milestone release that brings reviewing and collaboration to the next level, while continuing to strengthen the performance, stability, and cohesion of the Fonto platform.
Fonto Editor & Review
We are beyond excited to announce the initial release of Suggestion Mode. We have worked tirelessly for over a year to add a new mode that enables users to type directly into the content to create suggestions.

These suggestions are not applied to the content until they are explicitly accepted by the author. This feature not only increases the ease and efficiency of reviewing a document, it also unlocks structure-level suggestions and records (nearly) everything. On that note, there are still some known issues in the feature, which you can find here, along with all the features that come with Suggestion Mode. We very much welcome you to try out all the new capabilities it unlocks. If you have any questions regarding the feature or want to know how it could benefit your use case, feel free to reach out to us through the support desk.
In the next release we’ll continue to improve on this feature, taking away some of the remaining quirks.

The backend components of Fonto Review have been upgraded to .NET 10, to benefit from the latest security and performance improvements Microsoft has made to the framework. Next to that, the backend can now be configured using the same configuration APIs as Fonto Document History and Fonto Output have, the sx.xml format.
Fonto Document History
The backend components of Fonto Document History have been upgraded to .NET 10, to benefit from the latest security and performance improvements Microsoft has made to the framework.
Fonto Content Quality
The backend components of Fonto Content Quality have been upgraded to .NET 10, to benefit from the latest security and performance improvements Microsoft has made to the framework.
Fonto Output
This release marks the first public API stable release of Fonto Output. This means that the product now follows the same API stability guarantees and support lifecycles as other Fonto products. We will continue to expand the featureset of Fonto Output.
Furthermore, this release delivers substantial enhancements to Fonto Output, focusing on performance, efficiency, and reliability. Document generation has been significantly optimized, achieving processing times up to 50% faster in certain scenarios. These improvements make working with large or complex documents smoother and more scalable, reducing delays and improving overall responsiveness.
Memory management has also been refined to lower resource consumption, ensuring that the Output service operates more efficiently under heavy workloads. This results in better stability and reduced impact on system resources.
In addition to these core optimizations, we’ve improved the generation of redline outputs and documents with tracked changes. These workflows now benefit from the same performance and memory improvements, providing a faster and more consistent experience when producing comparison or review documents.
Overall, this release delivers a faster, more reliable, and more secure experience for document generation workflows, including those that require tracked changes or redline outputs.
Fonto One
Enabled Just-In-Time loading in Fonto One
To improve performance and initial response time, Fonto One Editor, Review and Document History will initially only load components that are visible in the viewport. Other components will load when they are scrolled into view, including their surrounding components.
To conserve memory and performance, Fonto One Editor may also automatically unload any JIT loaded document again when it leaves and remains outside the viewport. To support navigating back and forth inside a limited set of documents without constant loading / unloading, Fonto Editor will automatically keep a number of the most recently viewed documents loaded even when they are outside of the viewport.
Red-lined outputs
Fonto One now makes it easier to compare document versions in Word. In addition to generating clean Word outputs, you can now create red-lined Word files that clearly show changes between versions.
This enhancement is perfect for review workflows and compliance processes. Providing full transparency and making it simple to track edits and differences across versions.
Translation services support
Fonto One now gives you more control over how translations are handled. Previously, translations were limited to Trados Enterprise. With this update, you can export translation jobs to a folder, enabling integration with other translation services.
This flexibility allows you to choose the translation solution that best fits your needs.
What’s Next?
As we are heading into 2026, we are focusing more on having Fonto behave as one ecosystem. This means that we will be working on being able to review Document History diffs directly using Fonto Review. This allows users to focus on the parts of a document that have changed, instead of having to review the entire document again.
Next to that, we plan to bring numerous improvements to managing large amounts of comments and proposals. This incorporates Fonto Review even more into existing products.
